Creating a New Application Configuration

 

To create a new application configuration, perform the following steps:

  1. In the left pane,click Application Configurations.

In the right pane, the list of existing application configurations appears.

  1. Click New.
  2. Under Properties, define the following information:

 

  • Name -- Enter a name for the new application configuration.
  • Description -- Enter a description for the application configuration.
  • Duration -- Enter the length of time that any session deployed from this application configuration should run, by default. This default duration period can be changed later if you schedule a session.
  • Deployment Method -- Specify how images for the application configuration will be provisioned. Images can be provisioned directly from the library or from a file cache. For more information, see About Deployment Properties.
  • Review Template -- If you want users to be able to fill out a review on a demo session (Demo Solution), select a template to associate with the application configuration.
  • Auto-Start on Login -- Select this check box if you want any session based on this application configuration to start immediately when an Evaluation User or Restricted Evaluation User logs on. Note that Auto-Start can only occur if the user has only one session.
  • Lock -- Specify whether or not the new application configuration is locked. Other users cannot use the application configuration until it has been unlocked.

Note: When an application user promotes a snapshot that uses a locked application configuration, the newly promoted application configuration is locked. If the application user is not a member of the Administrators group, the user cannot use the application configuration.

 

  • Solution Availability -- Clear the check boxes for any Cloud Automation Platform Solutions for which you do not want this application configuration to be visible.
  1. Virtual Networks -- Specify the Virtual Networks that each server configuration will use. Click Add Virtual Network to create a new virtual network. Provide a unique name for each network. Click Auto-Configure Networking to have the system create the required networks based on the selected server configuration(s). You need to select the server configuration(s) before clicking Auto-Configure, so that the system can create the required number of networks for the specific server configurations.

    To specify that the network is isolated (a private network on a single host server) select the Isolated check box.

  2. Under Server Configuration, click Edit to open the Edit Server Configurations dialog box. Add and then define the required server configurations, then click Continueto return to the New Application Configuration page.
  • Under Properties If you add multiple server configurations, you can use the Boot Order value to specify the order in which the configurations start as VMs.

If you select the Remote Access Default Serveroption for a server configuration, the remote desktop of the VM or deployed physical server defined by that server configuration will open automatically when the session is started.

Select Persistent Mode to deploy any session using this application configuration is persistent mode.

  • Under Networking ,specify the Virtual Networks that each server configuration will use.
  1. To add a new network, select one from theVirtual Networklist. This list is populated with the networks that you defined above under Virtual Networks.
  2. For each server configuration, select a Virtual Network from the drop-down list. For more information, see About Virtual Networking.
  • Under Deployment Actions, click Add Action for a specific server configuration if you want to use a deployment action file to perform a post-deployment procedure. If you choose to add a deployment action, select a mode of Run Once, Run Always, or Manual. You can also run a deployment action on a server in this application configuration later, when you start a session based on the application configuration.
  1. Under Materials, click Add to insert a URL to a document or image.
  2. Click Save.
